The Gómez Samblas family answers God's call through Matunda, the association that helps families like their own, with members who have disabilities, in Kenya. In less than six months, they have already enrolled 167 children and young people in school.

The Gómez-Samblas family, known as Familia Matunda in Swahili, launched their project to help families like their own in Kenya. "Disability reminds us of our own fragility," says Coro, the mother of this family of ten.

Matunda Familia focuses its work in rural areas of Kenya, where it promotes the creation and maintenance of educational units adapted for children with disabilities, who are often excluded from the school system.

Coro tells us how her family, whom she affectionately calls "Team Everest," came together, and how one of them is now waiting for them in Heaven. "There are children God sends you, and there are children God sends you to find." If they were already biological parents, what led them to adoption? How did they come to know their children? How did they cope with the passing of one of their little ones to Heaven?

Today we're talking with Coro Samblas, an extraordinary woman who teaches us so much about faith, family, and disability through her own example. Together with her family, she has started a mission called MATUNDA (“fruit” in Swahili) FAMILY to help families like theirs in Kenya.

In this chapter we will travel to Kenya to meet the Matunda Family, who do "the more difficult still": they not only accompany and support people with disabilities... they do it from the heart of Africa!
